enable full screen mode in XQuartz it doesnt work in non-root window mode. Assuming you want to run a remote X application, and you want that application to use HiDPI: install XQuartz for example brew cask install xquartz. You might need to force HiDPI mode for that application, but it should have all the pixels available. XQuartz doesnt support HiDPI in any reasonable way, but you can sort of make it work on a temporary basis.

I am a Mac user (10.12.6) and the R version is 3.4.1, I have installed Xquartz and the latest version of the GTK (GTK2.24.17-X11.pkg), but still fail to install RGtk2 using the command install.
